Can I fund all of my goals without running out of money?
Clients approaching retirement often find themselves wondering if they can fund all of their goals without running out of money. We utilize a comprehensive software program called Money Guide Pro that evaluates a client's unique situation to determine their probability of success.
We begin by looking at goals which we divide into needs, wants and wishes. We talk about what is important to you and why. And we discuss life expectancy, health care costs, etc. Next, we evaluate the resources you have to fund your goals including retirement income, investments, stock options, rental properties, etc. We also factor in whether or not you have liabilities. In addition, we discuss how much risk you are willing to take.
After entering all of this information into the program, the Confidence Meter will then calculate the probability of success. It will also make recommendations to help move you into the Confidence Zone by making changes to your plan such as how much you save or when to retire. In addition, it tests for risks outside your control like inflation, social security cuts, unexpected health care needs, etc. Of course, your plan isn't static and will change over time. We will periodically review and make improvements to account for changes and adjustments that will inevitably occur.
